THE INTERACTION OF TRADITION AND INNOVATION OF ORNITHOLOGICAL MOTIFS IN THE ARTISTIC PRACTICE OF UKRAINE
Abstract
This article examines the interaction between tradition and innovation in the portrayal of ornithomorphic motives in Ukrainian fine and decorative-applied arts. The article analyzes recent scholarly research, particularly works devoted to ornithomorphic motifs in Old East Slavic art and their influence on contemporary artistic practice, as well as studies of 21st-century folk art that focus on the transformation of traditional forms within the modern cultural environment. Particular attention is paid to the combination of traditional elements with contemporary artistic practices, which allows for the preservation of cultural heritage while integrating it into the global artistic context. The article analyzes aspects related to the risk of losing the authenticity of traditional motives in the process of their stylization and commercialization, as well as the insufficient level of research on decorative-applied art in contemporary scientific discourse. The article emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach to the study of ornithomorphic motifs as an important element of the cultural code of Ukrainian art.
