PSYCHOLOGY OF COLOR AS A TOOL FOR FORMING SPATIAL THINKING IN PAINTING
Abstract
The article analyzes the psychological nature of color as a factor in forming spatial thinking in painting. The cognitive and perceptual mechanisms of color influence on the perception of depth, mass, rhythm, and pictorial space architectonics are revealed. It is determined that color performs not only a decorative but also a structural function, organizing the space of the artistic image. The importance of purposeful formation of color thinking in professional training of students of monumental and easel painting departments is substantiated. Methodological techniques that contribute to the development of spatial and plastic thinking through work with color contrasts, tonal relations, and compositional architectonics are outlined. It is concluded that color psychology is an important tool for forming professional competencies of a contemporary artist.
