ARTISTIC FEATURES OF KROLEVETS WEAVING: ORNAMENT, COLOR, COMPOSITION

Abstract

The article examines the artistic features of Krolevets weaving as a unique phenomenon of Ukrainian decorative and applied art. It is noted that the tradition of producing Krolevets towels dates back to the 18th–19th centuries. The specificity of the ornament color scheme, and composition of Krolevets towels, their symbolic meaning, and their role in shaping national cultural identity are considered. Design principles ornamental motifs, their rhythmic organization, and their interrelation with color solutions are analyzed. The meaning of the traditional red and white color palette as an important semantic element is determined. Attention is focused on the relevance of preserving Krolevets weaving in the context of modern cultural transformations. The principles of constructing ornamental motifs, their rhythmic organization, and their interconnection with color solutions are further analyzed; functional and stylistic patterns that determine the recognizability of the regional style is defined. Methodologically, a comprehensive combination of archival materials, analysis of woven samples, comparative stylistics, and ethnographic sources is employed. The article emphasizes the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach to ensure the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage to future generations.
